Day Twenty-One
The personal diary/log in real time by this author, describing a detailed account, of the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional changes resulting from a prolonged time of prayer and fasting--only water--to petition Jesus Christ to display His active power and supernatural works among His dedicated disciples world wide.
If anyone has an answer to this question, please let us all know: what is the reason we don’t see or hear of any genuine, visible, miracles or supernatural healing/cures in this 21st Century? I am not referring to the counterfeit miracles on The Trinity Broadcasting Network, done by Benny Hinn. He is an abominable disgrace to all who are genuine Christians.
A personal reason for this endeavor is to help alleviate one of the weakest links in my devotion to Jesus: my inability to produce lengthy and fervent prayers. Mark 9:28-29. "After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn’t we drive it out? He replied, This kind comes out only by prayer and fasting."
Another reason is to somehow draw much more attention to this Biblical blog, and for Jesus Christ to somehow confirm that even though some of my human experiences may have snuck in, the vast majority of the holy words written herein are in accordance with the New Testament, which most of mainstream Christianity fails to comply, and with "good" reason.
A fringe benefit of when a person has gone through the living hell of a long period of fasting, along with constant prayer is this: they will have a firsthand account (meaningful and realistic empathy), especially for the very young innocent one’s who can’t understand why they are poor, besides being neglected or abused, along with all who are burdened with hunger and starvation world wide. Even though one of my few strengths is the empathy I have for the hurting; in this area, I am greedy. I desire to feel their pain and suffering even more. Actually, an unrealistic desire I have is to take their pain and make it mine. Fasting may, to a small degree, do that.
Along with the above reasons, a personal weakness in which I am unable to conquer, for a man well along in years, is the silent and secret pride (vanity) I have in my extremely healthy and youthful body. I know with hope and continually pray, this exerted effort will be the needed action to overcome this ungodly attitude. Result: how can anyone have vanity when one is nothing but skin and bones?
When Jesus left the desert, after forty days of praying and fasting while being tempted by Satan, He must have been as thin as a rail. That was when He was in the power of the Spirit. That power allowed Him to start working in the supernatural by healing all kinds of disease and sickness. Luke 4:14 and 4:33.
While fasting and praying many changes occur. I know a lot of weight will be lost. I am not sure if my emotional and cognitive functions will be affected. But concerning the spiritual aspects: the main and possibly the only reason for prayer and fasting in Biblical times and even now, is where the biggest changes will take place. For instance, most physical barriers and human impediments, which hamper us from gaining the attention of God, will be removed, especially in the latter part of the fast. Then, God, through His Holy Spirit, will be able to inform us of what His desire/will is for us, on a ‘one and one’ basis. That is what I am earnestly hoping and praying for. Hebrews 5:7. "During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission." The life of Jesus Christ, how He lived is the paradigm for all disciples of Christ.
One of many such promises Jesus Christ has made to His disciples, those who live only for Him, is this: Jesus said in John 14: 12-14. "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." This author is fully persuaded that Jesus Christ has the power and desire to do what I am requesting, according to His promise. Luke 1:37. "For nothing is impossible with God."
I was confronted by a friend, telling me that our prayers and fasting must be in secret, and I am making mine public for all the world to see. My answer is this: the last thing I desire to do is to bring attention to myself. God knows my heart; the attention must go to ‘why is there a lack of visible supernatural works by people like myself and other genuine Christians’?
Jesus Christ and I ask the help of all bloggers who subscribe to this blog--there are hundreds if not thousands who have, or may have, a closer relationship to God then myself--to make this a joint venture and unite with me in prayer and fasting with a pure and honest heart. Anyone who is able to accept all the tough but holy words written in this blog, must be, or desire to be, close to the Almighty One. One must make sure there are no selfish motives, but desire all glory, praise and honor go to Almighty God and Jesus Christ. Remember, God knows the motives behind our every action. For those who do join in, pray that God will make his power come alive. Let us attempt to overwhelm God--which is impossible--with our prayers and fasting. The entire Christian community throughout the world may be greatly blessed. This is an excellent time for us (genuine Christians) to display to God that we ‘mean business’ in our spiritual connection with Him. I am completely confident and have a strong faith in Jesus Christ that He will answer our request; the reason being, if Scripture is correct, and it is, the promises Christ made to His disciples (us) have no expiration date.
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: little less than 111 lbs
2) Body fat: less than , almost 1 %
3) Pulse: 55
4) Weight: little over110 lbs.
5) Body Temperature: 97.8.
6) Blood pressure: 94 over 59. My blood pressure has always been low, but not this low. ----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
7) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.5. Since the first two days it has been the same. As soon as I start to eat, by eating a lot of alkaline producing foods, I am certain it will go into the healthy alkaline range. One reassuring thing is that even when the body fluid pH is low the blood somehow remains at 7.5.; how long that occurs, I am not sure. The reason for a very low pH is this: the two main ingredients needed to keep the body fluids alkaline are calcium and vitamin D, along with that a lot of fresh calcium rich fruit and vegetables, cooked and raw, and of course supplementation, like coral calcium. The main source of vitamin D comes from exposure to sunshine; a poor source is from synthetic supplements. It is literally impossible to get enough natural organic vitamin D from food sources, since the majority of natural foods are almost void of natural vitamin D. Vitamin D is added to many dairy products, but it is a synthetic and second rate.
Acidic body fluid is one of the main reasons for much of the sickness and disease in the world today. So I can understand why my body fluids are so low; I haven’t had any calcium or vitamin D for 21 days. I am certain I will survive until the end of my time of prayer and fasting. My pH has always been from 7.0 to 7.5. ------ 7.0 is neutral; any digits below 7.0 is acidic; any digits above 7.0 is alkaline. Most healthy people, especially the young, will usually have readings in the alkaline range, while most older people will have readings in the acidic range. Over a long period of time, that spells trouble.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: Although I am having a hard day today, mentally, I am joyful because I will start eating tomorrow. It seems all my mental faculties have improved, especially my memory. I feel they are almost normal.
9) Spiritual experiences: I now realize that I was not heavy enough to fast as long as I wanted to: I should have waited until I gained much more weight, and then attempt this fast. I am disappointed with the results, but have learned much spiritually through this undertaking.
Repeating, the reason for lack of strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Faith in spiritual matters is not needed, since our present-day culture has made it just about obsolete. This world can give us almost everything we need. Will we have enough faith to overcome this enormous barrier? The only way that will be possible is if that power is given to us by God, and I am confident He will give it.
10) Physical condition : I was extremely weak this morning, and not much better in the afternoon. Now that I will be stopping this fast, I am starting to crave all kinds of foods. Worth repeating what I said a few days ago: Actually there are three unexpected windfalls: first my sense of smell is more acute, next, my hearing is better, and lastly, my eyesight have improve measurably, to the point of giving my eyes near perfect vision. Believe it or not by Ripley. Of course, other than the spiritual benefits, there has been a great deal of internal cleansing of all the poisons I have taken in from the environment for the last thirty years. Most people who fast, usually do it exclusively for the great internal cleansing. There is nothing in all creation that can deep cleanse except fasting.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament a little less than usual. Then, I had to change these vital signs, which is boring, especially when I feel handicapped. I got plenty of sleep and rest. I always read for several hours. I am still driving. I drove to the park to get in the sun for 45 minutes. At this time, I am ashamed to let anyone to see me. I look that bad. I am glad I decided to stop tomorrow. I am not sure I could have lasted much longer unless I stayed in bed all day. Spend some time on the Internet, doing what was needed. To my knowledge, the experiencing factor, and the displaying of this intimate information on the Internet is delving into uncharted territory.

Day Twenty
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: little less than 111 lbs
2) Body fat: less than , about 2%
3) Pulse: 53
4) Weight:113. I lost a pound in the last day. Once the body weight gets to an 18% difference from the starting weight, the fast must be stopped. That means when I get to 112 lbs, I must stop. At that time the organs will start to get eaten by the body. This fact makes me sad and discouraged.
5) Body Temperature: 97.2.
6) Blood pressure: 93 over 63. My blood pressure has always been low, but not this low; it is a warning sign ----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
7) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.5, the same as it has been for some time; seems like it is going to remain this way, therefore I will check it every day or so. Without eating healthy food, I can’t do anything about this low reading, but it still is extremely unhealthy. Acidic body fluids is one of the main reasons for much of the sickness and disease in the world today. So I can understand why my body fluids are so low; I haven’t had any calcium or vitamin D for 20 days. I am certain, I will survive until the end of my time of prayer and fasting.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: Everything seems fine. I am happy I will be eating the day after tomorrow.

Worth repeating what I said a few days ago: Actually there are three unexpected windfalls: first my sense of smell is more acute, next, my hearing is better, and lastly, my eyesight have improve measurably, to the point of giving my eyes near perfect vision. Believe it or not by Ripley.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament for about 2.5 hours. Then, I have to change these vital signs each day, which is difficult sometimes. I got plenty of sleep and rest. I always read for several hours. I am still driving; I drove to three health food grocery markets and bought groceries for my first day of eating which will be this Sunday, January 26. At this time I am nothing but skin and bones, and I can tell it is time to stop, since I felt strangely different and not in a positive way. And of course I engaged in my favorite past-time which is to lay down or sit down. It is sunny today, so I took time to get in the sun for awhile. Spent some time on the Internet, doing what has to be done.

DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: Same as yesterday, little less an 112 lbs
2) Body fat: about . Same as yesterday, 04%
3) Pulse: 65
4) Weight:116. I did not lose any weight in the last day.
5) Body Temperature: 97.4. Several days ago my temp was 95.0; that is dangerously low. Well, after reading-up on hypothermia, I took some action. I turned the heat up in my apartment, put on some extra layers of clothing, put on more bed clothing, and that did the trick. My temperature has been hovering in the area of 97.5. I would have had to stop my prayer and fasting is it got below 95.00, because that is in a dangerous area.
6) Blood pressure: 110 over 66. My blood pressure has always been low ----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
7) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.5, the same as it has been for some time; seems like it is going to remain this way, therefore I will check it every day or so. 8) Mental and emotional conditions: It seems all my mental faculties have improved, including my memory. I feel they are almost normal.
9) Spiritual experiences: Repeating what I said yesterday: I am still extremely optimistic. As I meditate and pray, what I am starting to experience is that Jesus Christ seems to be more real, like a real person and not just a historical figure. I pray this type of close relationship will increase. As I see it, it is almost impossible for God not to answer my prayers.
Repeating, the reason for lack of strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Actually there are three unexpected windfalls: first my sense of smell is more acute, nest, my hearing is better, and lastly, my eyesight has improved measurably, to the point of giving my eyes near perfect vision. Believe it or not by Ripley.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament 3 hours and 45 minutes. Work on computer for an hour or so, responding to emails and comments. Then I have to change these vital signs each day, which is easier for me today. I got plenty of sleep. I read for several hours, and of course my favorite past-time is to lie down or sit down.

# 236: Facts About Fasting
The informative article in this post will interrupt a series of posts on a time of prayer and fasting by this author. If anyone desires to go directly to the fasting series and skip this post, scroll down and when done reading about the many days of fasting so far, then come back to this article and learn about the good and possibly harmful results of fasting.
Even though my prayer and fasting if primarily for spiritual benefits, this information is crucial to get the desired results.
The original article can be found at:
http://www.studentsagainstsweatshops.org/docs/hunger_strike_facts.doc"
So what exactly happens? Your body needs energy to function and prefers to use carbs (glycogen) first. For the first few days of starvation the body uses its stores of glycogen in liver and muscle. This is accompanied by salt excretion with substantial weight loss. The next phase lasts up to day 10-14, during which time glycogen stores are exhausted and certain amino acids are used to make more glycogen. In the final phase, most energy comes from ketones produced by the breakdown of fatty acids. When fat stores are used up there is catastrophic protein use, but generally other complications arise first.
Benefits:
Clarity and Emotional Highs
The weakness and fatigue that eventually accompany prolonged fasting can be viewed positively as wonderful quieting state. There is a commonly described sense of "well-being" and "clear-headedness" after the initial few days which makes the short hunger strike not at all unpleasant. Many describe it simply as a renewed happiness just to be alive. This high has some physiological basis a fasting can lead to increased endorphin levels similar to the endorphin-high experienced by long distance running or drugs. During The Ups, it feels as if there is an endless supply of physical energy, but beware, energy may be fickle especially in the early parts of a fast. Also, thoughts are intensified in this state and excessive emotions are common and misdirected.
Fasting is most fulfilling for people when they approach it with a purpose. With a hunger strike, the purpose in clear, but a personal purpose may further enrich the experience. Detoxification.
Many of the initial side effects come from years of toxins coming to the surface and though unpleasant, detoxification is wonderful for you in the long run. Detoxification is especially intense during a water fast and can seem overwhelming. Your body cannibalizes on sick cells and dirty fat, releasing toxins into the blood. Detox usually last from one to three days, and may hit day 2 or day 28 of a fast. The greater the quantity of toxins in the blood, the worse you feel.
-Eating will feel like a new experience when the fast is finally broken. The flavors and textures of food will be enhanced by super clean nasal passages. Eating will be a brand new experience. You will be able to eat healthy easier. An interesting phenomena occurs after a fast. The years of conditioning your body to tolerate unhealthy foods is reversed. The body is as clean as a new-born baby. Sensitivity to unhealthy food is increased. You will feel satisfied with smaller amounts of food and sluggish and tired when overeating. Rich foods, full of fat, salt, and processed sugars will cause nausea, headaches and weakness. A handful of fruit will be thoroughly satisfying. Because the digestive system has to work less, there will be boundless energy to spare.
- Because sleep is a short fast, some detox symptoms are present when you first wake up including a coated tongue, bad breath, puffy skin, and a foggy mind. One of the things you will experience later in a fast is effervescent energy when rising out of bed in the morning. No sleepy dirt or puffy eyes; a breath sweet "as the morning mist that flows over hills covered in spring flowers".
Potential Drawbacks and how to deal with them:
* Hunger
Most are surprised by the disappearance of hunger after a few days of fasting. Hunger may reemerge at times, due to overly-pulpy juices that reawaken the digestive tract.
* Weakness
Water fasting will result in weakness and lack of energy. There can even be dips in stamina during a juice fast if you have a high metabolism. Your expectations should be adjusted when planning a fast. Give yourself lots of down time; enjoy the holiday away from the hustle and bustle.
* Backaches
Back pain can increase due to toxins in the lower intestine. Blood vessels that draw nutrients from the colon are very close to the nerves of the spine. Back pain will often decrease after elimination of the toxins. Back exercises can also relieve some pain. A cold pack also will help.
* Bad Breath
Waste passes through the lungs, which are an eliminative organ. Brushing the tongue with a toothbrush using dental floss and rinsing with mouthwash will reduce bad breath. Rinse your mouth with plain water or water mixed with lemon juice to relieve these symptoms.
* Cankers
Toxic build-up in the mouth and the absence of the washing-action of chewing food can allow an increase of bacteria between the teeth. The tongue becomes coated with waste. To stop cankers, gargle with sea salt mixed with water several times daily. Dabbing the sore with tea tree oil or vitamin E quickens the healing process.
* Colds and other viruses
Mucous is the perfect food for viruses. Toxins weaken the immune system. When large quantities of toxins and mucus are in the blood due to a fast, they can cause susceptibility to colds. To fight a cold, continue fasting to eliminate mucus. Increase intake of citrus juices.
* Blackouts
During fasting the body conserves energy. The heart pumps slower and blood pressure lowers. Standing or moving quickly from a resting position will cause the blood to flow to the legs, causing blackouts and dizziness. To stop blackouts get down on one knee or sit. Lowering your center of gravity will instantly stop a blackout. Blackouts are more frequent during water fasting.
* Diarrhea
Fruit juices have a laxative effect which is more pronounced after water fasting. Diarrhea early on is a natural consequence.
* Headaches
Toxins can cause muscle tightness in the neck and shoulders. This can result in tension headaches. Massaging the neck and shoulders will help relieve the tension.
* Muscle Tightness
The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be affected, as toxins accumulate in the large muscles. A self-massage, hot baths, stretching and exercising will help to release the toxins.
* Nausea
When waste is released too quickly by the lymph glands some of the toxic overload is taken by the liver and secreted with bile into the stomach. This causes nausea. Drinking water or carrot juice will dilute the bile and toxin mixture, helping to flush it from the system.
* Nervousness
The elimination of toxins can irritate damaged nerves. Light exercise will help relieve this.
* Skin Disturbances
People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or boils. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. When cleansed of mucus and toxins the skin will be healthy, soft and unblemished.
* Tiredness
Sleepiness is normal during water or restricted juice fasting. Very few people receive enough rest, so enjoy the extra sleep; it may be as healing and rejuvenating as the fast itself.
* Feeling Cold
The faster may be more susceptible to cold since the body has a harder time keeping warm and trying to conserve energy at the same time.
* Insomnia
Be sure to nap during the day if your sleep at night is lighter
* Abdominal pains * Depression * Constipation * Nightmares
Major Risks:
After Week 3, or whenever weight loss exceeds 18 percent of the starting weight. The body tries to compensate by slowing down its metabolism, entering "starvation mode." Still, once fat stores are entirely depleted, the body has no choice but to mine the muscles and vital organs for energy. The striker simply wastes away as his body, quite literally, consumes itself. There are major risks to fasting, including death.
* Dehydration is a risk in voluntary total fasting, as individuals may lose their feelings of thirst and hunger.
* Clinical Depression One study showed 77% of hunger strikers to be clinically depressed at the time of admission to hospital, measured by an independent psychiatrist, although they also demonstrated features similar to those of the post-traumatic stress syndrome.
* Cardiac Failure from loss of cardiac muscle.
* Ketoacidosis. Fasting becomes dangerous after just three to five days, at which point the body begins breaking down fat in order to produce energy. When the liver is reduced to breaking down fat (in lieu of the usual glucose), it produces ketone bodies, a toxic byproduct. These can be excreted through the urine, and a particular variety known as acetone can be expelled through the lungs. (Acetone makes a person's breath smell like pears.) Ketone bodies can also be oxidized by the brain in order to make the fuel it needs. But when ketone bodies become too numerous in the bloodstream, they can cause this potentially lethal condition that afflicts some diabetics.
Safety Tips
* Conclusions from studies recommend independent medical monitoring after a weight loss of 10% in lean healthy individuals. If the pre-hunger strike weight is unknown, a maximum of 10 days' hunger strike, or a body mass index of less than 16.5 kg/m, should be the trigger. Major problems arise at a weight loss of about 18%.
* Drink two liters of fluids every day, supplemented with one-quarter to one-half teaspoon of salt if possible.
* Stay warm and avoid unnecessary physical exertion.
* Even if you feel good, insist on getting medical supervision after fasting for 14 days. It will help unnerve the authorities and ensure you stay healthy.
What and how to drink?
#1 rule: Drink to you heart’s content!
Water:
The best water is distilled, secondly, spring or filtered. Interestingly enough, one may not feel thirsty within one or two weeks of fasting and may find it difficult to drink adequately after four or five weeks of fasting. One should try to drink at least two liters of water per day, even if you don't want it, in order to stay well hydrated. The body will need less water, though, as the fast continues, and by two or three weeks, one to one and a half liters per day may be plenty.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How much weight will I lose?
Weight loss can initially be as high as 3-4 pounds per day, much of it water, but as the fast continues, the average loss will be 0.5-1 pound per day. If you are thin or at average weight and you fast for 30 days on juice or 10 days on water, ribs will show, face will become gaunt, friends and family will notice. But the body will quickly normalize its weight in about 10 days after the fast. It is very important not to try to gain weight too quickly. The body can rebuild only at a set rate.
Can I exercise while fasting?
During water fasting, weakness is the normal state and as much rest as possible is advised. If you feel a rush of energy save it for a time it’s really needed. Some experience an abundance of energy making exercise easy and fun. Exercise oxygenates the blood. The pumping action of the muscles flush the lymph and cells of metabolic waste. If you experience energy loss, limit yourself to stretching exercises, light walking or deep breathing. Try to avoid intense physical activity during a fast even if you feel energetic. I say this from personal experience; the energy can be fickle. Overdo it and you will feel tired and weak for the next day or two as the body tries to recover the glycogen reserves in the muscles.

Day Fifteen
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: A little less than 110 lbs
2) Body fat: about 4%
3) Pulse: 54
4)Weight:116. I have been losing a pound a day.
5) Body Temperature: 97.9.
6) Blood pressure: 99 over 65.
Without eating healthy food, I can’t do anything about this low reading, but it still is extremely unhealthy. It is literally impossible to get enough vitamin D from food sources, since the majority of natural foods are almost void of natural vitamin D. Acidic body fluids is one of the main reasons for much of the sickness and disease in the world today. So I can understand why my body fluids are so low; I haven’t had any calcium or vitamin D for 15 days. I am certain, I will survive until the end of my time of prayer and fasting. When over a long period of time, that spells trouble.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: the same as it has been for the last few days, which means: my memory is at times a little foggy. My mental capacity is slipping a little. I have a difficult time working on the computer. My thinking has also slowed down. Even though it seems a little better today.
9) Spiritual experiences: Repeating what I said yesterday: I am still extremely optimistic. As I meditate and pray, what I am starting to experiencing is that Jesus Christ seems to more real, like a real person and not just a historical figure. I pray this type of close relationship will increase. As I see it, it is almost impossible for God not to answer my prayers.
Repeating, the reason for lack of strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Faith in spiritual matters is not needed, since our present-day culture has made it just about obsolete. This world can give us almost everything we need. Therefore, will we have enough faith to overcome this enormous barrier? The only way that will be possible is if that power is given to us by God, and I am confident He will give it.
10) Physical condition: I am joyful to say that I am feeling stronger today than I have felt in a few days. It still takes effort to move, which sometimes I don’t have. I try to drink as much water as possible, but it is difficult. Actually there are three unexpected windfalls: first my sense of smell is more acute, next, my hearing is better, and lastly, my eyesight has improved measurably, to the point of giving my eyes near perfect vision. Believe it or not by Ripley.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament a few hours. I don’t keep tract of how long I listen anymore. Work on computer for an hour or so, responding to emails and comment. Then I have to change these vital signs each day, which is easier for me today. I got plenty of sleep. I read for several hours, and of course my favorite past-time is to lie down or sit down. I had enough energy to engage in some long overdue throwing away of unneeded junk.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.

Day Fourteen
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: A little over a 111 lbs
2) Body fat: 5%
3) Pulse: 55
4) Body Temperature: 97.4. Several days ago my temp was 95.0; that is dangerously low. Well, after reading-up on hypothermia, I took some action. Most healthy people, especially the young, will usually have readings in the alkaline range, while most older people will have readings in the acidic range--that spells trouble.
7) Weight: 117 lbs I have been losing just one pound per day. That is great.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: the same as it has been for the last few days, which means: my memory is at times a little foggy. My mental capacity is slipping a little. I have a difficult time working on the computer. My thinking has also slowed down. Most likely, the reason is that the brain uses more cholesterol (good fat) than any other organ in the body and my cholesterol has always been low, and therefore I am feeling its effect. And still, my emotional conditions are normal.
9) Spiritual experiences: I am still extremely optimistic. As I meditate and pray, what I am starting to experience is that Jesus Christ seems to be more real, like a real person and not just a historical figure. I pray this type of close relationship will increase. As I see it, it is almost impossible for God not to answer my prayers.

10) Physical condition : I am shame to say this, but I have absolutely no energy. I can’t stand up for a long period of time; my legs get weak and I must sit or lay down. It takes effort to move, which sometimes I don’t have. In short, I move around like a turtle with a broken leg.I try to drink as much water as possible, but it is difficult. I know I have to drink as much as possible, but I have come to the point that I hate drinking water. My throat most often is parched and water does not relieve it.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament about 3 hours. Work on computer for an hour or so, responding to emails and comments. Then I have to change these vital signs each day, which is trying for me. I got plenty of sleep.

I would have had to stop my prayer and fasting is it got below 95.0, because that is in a dangerous area.
5) Blood pressure: 118 over 70. My blood pressure has always been low ----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.

10) Physical condition: I laid down most of the day out of necessity and took an hour nap, and therefore conserve energy. I hate to admit this, but I can’t stand up for a long period of time; my legs get weak and I must sit or lay down. If and when I stand up or even sit up, I get dizzy, but only sometimes. It takes effort to move, which sometimes I don’t have. Then there are times I am energetic. I try to drink as much water as possible, but it is difficult. Acidic body fluids is one of the main reasons for much of the sickness and disease in the world today. So I can understand why my body fluids are so low; I haven’t has any calcium or vitamin D for ten days. I am certain, I will survive until the end of my time of prayer and fasting. My pH has always been from 7.0 to 7.5. ------ 7.0 is neutral; any digits below 7.0 is acidic; any digits above 7.0 is alkaline. Most healthy people, especially the young, will usually have readings in the alkaline range, while most older people will have readings in the acidic range--that spells trouble.
7) Weight: 119 lbs I have been losing just one pound per day. That is great.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: my memory is at times a little foggy. My mental capacity is slipping a little. I have a difficult time working on the computer. My thinking has also slowed down. Most likely, the reason is that the brain uses more cholesterol (good fat) than any other organ in the body, and my cholesterol has always been low, and therefore I am feeling its effect.
9) Spiritual experiences: I did much valuable praying last night in bed when there was no sleep in me. I am still extremely optimistic. Repeating, the reason for lack of strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Faith in spiritual matters is not needed, since our present-day culture has made it just about obsolete. This world can give us almost everything we need. There are times I am energetic and times that I can hardly stand up, but I guess that is expected, since I haven’t eaten for 12 days. I try to drink as much water as possible, but it is difficult. I tried warming the water a bit and sip it as if I was drinking juice or coffee. That seemed to work better.
11) Daily activities: Listen to the New Testament 2.5 for hours. Drove the car to the bank to have a bunch of bank statements shredded. Did more house cleaning. Worked on the computer for an hour or so, to respond to a long comment left on "Day One’ post.

Day Eleven
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: Still a little less than 113 lbs
2) Body fat: Still about than 6%
3) Pulse: 66
4) Body Temperature: 98.1. Yesterday my temp was 95.0; that is dangerously low. Well, after reading up on hypothermia, I took some action. I turned the heat up in my apartment, put on some extra layers of clothing, put on more bed clothing, and that did the trick. My temperature this morning was hovering in the area of 98.00. I would have had to stop my prayer and fasting is it got below 95.00 because that is in a dangerous area. I bought a new thermometer today, and the readings were the same as my old one. That means my readings are accurate.
5) Blood pressure: 104 over 68----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
6) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.5. the same as the last week, but is still extremely unhealthy. Most likely, the reason is that the brain uses more cholesterol than any other organ in the body, and my cholesterol has always been low, and therefore I am feeling its effect.
9) Spiritual experiences: I have been doing a lot of repetitive praying. That seems to make my faith strong. I am extremely optimistic. Repeating, the reason for lack strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Faith in spiritual matters is not needed, since our present-day culture has made it just about obsolete. This world can give us just about everything we need. 10) Physical condition : I decided again, to just lay around, and therefore conserve energy. I took an hour nap. I get a little tipsy at times, and feel lightheaded occasionally. I am much weaker then ever, but I guess that is expected, since I haven’t eaten for 9 days. I try to drink as much water as possible, but it is difficult. I tried warming the water a bit and sip it as if I was drinking juice or coffee. That seemed to work better.
11) Daily activities: I lost tract of how long I listened to the new Testament. Drove the car to Wal-Mart and bought a thermometer, paid my bill and bought a few nonperishable items. Cleaned house to get rid of stuff I may never need.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.

Day Ten
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: Still about 113 lbs
2) Body fat: Still about 6 %
3) Pulse: 55
4) Body Temperature: 95.1. If my temp gets lower than 95.0, I would be in the area of hypothermia, I would have to stop my fast, because that is in a dangerous area. I will get a new thermometer tomorrow to make sure my readings are accurate.
5) Blood pressure: 109 over 65----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.

7) Weight: 121 lbs. Again, that’s great, I lost just one pound in 24 hours.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: my memory is at times a little foggy. My mental capacity is also slipping a little. Most likely, the reason is that the brain uses more cholesterol than any other organ in the body, and my cholesterol has always been low, and therefore I am feeling its effect.
9) Spiritual experiences: Again, I did a lot of praying today, and my faith is getting much stronger. Repeating, the reason for lack strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. 10) Physical condition : I decided again, to just lay around, and therefore conserve energy. I get a little tipsy at times, and feel lightheaded occasionally.
11) Daily activities: Listened to the New Testament, 2.50 hours. I took the longest nap that I have ever taken in my life: one hour and 45 minutes. Drove the car to the bank. Worked on Christian forums.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.

Day Nine
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: About 114 lbs
2) Body fat: Less than 6%
3) Pulse: 54
4) Body Temperature: 95.5
5) Blood pressure: 113 over 66----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
6) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.5. A little better than yesterday but is still extremely unhealthy. The reason for a very low pH is this: the two main ingredients needed to keep the body fluids alkaline are calcium and vitamin D. Calcium comes from calcium rich foods and supplementation, like coral calcium, and the main source of vitamin D comes from exposure to sunshine; a poor source is from synthetic supplements. It is literally impossible to get enough vitamin D from food sources, since the majority of natural foods are almost void of natural vitamin D. Acidic body fluids is one of the main reasons for much of the sickness and disease in the world today. So I can understand why my body fluids are so low; I haven’t had any calcium or vitamin D for 9 days. I am certain I will survive until the end of my time of prayer and fasting. My pH has always been from 7.0 to 7.5. ------ 7.0 is neutral; any digits below 7.0 is acidic; any digits above 7.0 is alkaline. Most healthy people, especially the young, will usually have readings in the alkaline range, while most older people will have readings in the acidic range--that spells trouble.
7) Weight: 122 lbs.
9) Spiritual experiences: I did a lot of praying today and feel better than yesterday. Repeating, the reason for lack strong faith in the world nowadays is because of our modern, sophisticated lifestyle. Faith in spiritual matters is not needed, since our present-day culture has made it just about obsolete. Will we have enough faith to overcome this enormous barrier? The only way that will be possible is if that power is given to us by God.
10) Physical condition: I decided again, to just lie around, and conserve energy. Today has been my best day since the first day.
11) Daily activities: Listened to the New Testament, 5.0 hours. Rested almost as much as yesterday.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.

Day Eight
DISPLAY OF VITAL SIGNS, ETC.
1) Lean body mass: A little over 115 lbs
2) Body fat: A little less than 6 %
3) Pulse: 52
4) Body Temperature: 96.0
5) Blood pressure: 113 over 68----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
6) Body fluid’s pH display: 5.0 This level of acidity is extremely unhealthy. The reason for a very low pH is this: the two main ingredients needed to keep the body fluids alkaline are calcium and vitamin D. 7) Weight: 123 lbs. Again, that’s great, I lost just one pound in 24 hours.
8) Mental and emotional conditions: my memory is at times a little foggy. My mental capacity is also slipping a little. Most likely, the reason is that the brain uses more cholesterol than any other organ in the body, and my cholesterol has always been low, and therefore I am feeling its effects.

10) Physical condition : I decided to just lay around today, and conserve energy. It feels good to lie down; actually it makes me feel normal.
11) Daily activities: Listened to the New Testament, 5.25 hours. Rest all day, something I have never been able to do before.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.

2) Body fat: A little less than 6 %
3) Pulse: 56
4) Body Temperature: 95.2
5) Blood pressure: 109 over 67----120 over 80 is optimal: 160 over 100, is Grade 1 hypertension (mild), etc.
6) Body fluid’s pH display: same as the last three days, 5.5 This level of acidity is extremely unhealthy------ 7.0 is neutral; any digits below 7.0 is acidic; any digits above 7.0 is alkaline. Most healthy people, especially the young, will usually have reading in the alkaline range, while most older people will have readings in the acidic range--that spells trouble.
7) Weight: 124 lbs. Again, that’s great, I lost just one pound in 24 hours.
8) Mental and emotional conditions; same as yesterday. I guess my mental condition goes along with my physical condition. I felt much better physically, so I felt much better mentally.
9) Spiritual experiences: I felt upbeat today, because I asked God, "What can I do to do more for Him?" Answer: just wait. Also, I asked, "What can I do to get closer to You?" Answer: have faith.
10) Physical condition: Again I woke up with some energy. I really perked up when company came to visit me. Published post # 235.
11) Daily activities: Listened to the New Testament, 3.75 hours. This weekends post just needed some proofreading, and then published it. I rested the most of the day; the best thing I can do.
How will all the above figures and attitudes continually change my life/our lives in the uncomfortable and extreme conditions of prayer and fasting? Physically, your guess is as good as mine, but spiritually I am extremely optimistic. In the next few weeks, hopefully, we will find out.
# 235: The World
I interrupt my daily account of prayer and fasting with this post. If anyone desires to go directly to that account, scroll to the end of this post.
This will, most likely, will be the last post I will be able to publish during my time of prayer and fasting.
Why does the New Testament (NT) speak so harshly when it comes to ‘the world’? That is what this post will explore. The word ‘world’ is mentioned approximately 200 times in the NT. The vast majority of the time, it is referring to the people in the world. 1st John 2:17. “The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” And just a few times it refers to the earth itself, like when it says in Matthew 25:34. “. . . the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” Even with all the violent weather, which causes floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, erupting of volcanoes, etc. the earth is not a bad place to live in, since it is the only planet we intimately know, which is habitable.
When the Bible writers speak severely, according to the words of Christ, about the world, they are referring to the people who live by the standards of this world, and do not live as God and Jesus Christ commands. What is it that this large group of worldly people does or doesn't do which are classified by Christ as a scorned humanity? Actually, they can be classified into two groups. The first are people who don’t believe in God or Christ, and the second are people who say they believe in God and Christ but don’t live as God requires.
Many in both groups are upright, decent, honest, loving, etc. people. But there is one thing both lack: to have a great, noble and holy cause in life that dominates and controls their lives with a passionate intensity; without that type of cause (advancing the gospel) which Christ gives, all life is of trivial and fleeting value. For example, with all their good moral traits, they are ungodly, since God is not included in their lives, except maybe on Sunday for an hour.
Let’s name just a few of the activities which they engage in that classified them as ungodly people of the world. Their most common natural attribute which separates them from God is their main interest is in the welfare of themselves, family and love-ones. That doesn’t seem right or fair to call that ungodly, but it is true. Here’s the reason why: Matthew 10;37. “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worth of me.” Luke uses tougher words on the same subject in Luke 14:26.
The first and greatest concern in the lives of Christ’s disciples is to love our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. And the second is to love our neighbor as yourself. The only way these commands can be obeyed is not with holy words but with the way we lives. These two most important commands are the ones that are the foundation of all faith, love, obedience and holiness; and it is a crying shame, they are the most neglected in all Christianity. What it means is there can be no Christianity without observing/obeying these two commands, regardless how loving and wonderful people may seem, even people who call themselves Christians. In God’s view, they are people of the world.
If and when we love God with our all and our neighbor as ourselves, that would automatically put family in second place. How many people put love for God and neighbor before family? That is a tough question which most would rather not think about.
Above and beyond the aforementioned commands, let’s get to the nitty gritty of what worldly desires are. The most dominate of all ungodly practices is greed. Of course, very few is any call it greed, we have given that nasty word many honorable euphuisms, such as material prosperous, worldly wealthy, go-getters, fortunate, financially rich, educated, [I wouldn't associate education or being educated with being greedy] shrewd, a smart business person, born wealthy, lucky and many more. Then there is another group of greedy people: those who are not any of the above, but are ordinary people who are stingy and wouldn’t let go of a penny for any reason, as it were.
Another worldly habit is to be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Such as engaging in entertainment and having fun. This category covers hundreds if not thousands of ways we can be lovers of pleasure, like TV, movies, music from all forms of high-tech gadgets. The more sensual and unusual/provocative they are, the more popular they become. Another is: Vacation type travel, just for the sake of getting away from the dog-eat-dog reality this world offers.
To put it another way, the more enticing anything is to our animal nature, the more desirable they become. Actually, the best way of describing worldly attitudes is anything in which God is not included. This last sentence covers all things, habits, and attitudes that make them worldly.
Some will say, “If that’s what worldly attitudes are, this author is absolutely crazy.” I agree, I am crazy in love with Christ. But when “christians” don’t make Jesus Christ their role-model, that is crazy in the eyes of God. To end this sensitive discussion, a better way to describe worldliness is to ask ourselves this question: would Jesus Christ engage himself in what we’re doing? In fact, that is the best test to see if the NT is pointing its finger at us when this phrase is used ‘the people of this world’.
I am certain, these could be the most unpopular and hated words to come from a spiritual person. You see, when church leaders are loved and admired by the world, you can bet your bottom dollar they are clever, having an upright appearance, while using pleasant sounding words to please the ears of the naivete. You can be sure, the majority are counterfeit Christians. In the complete NT, it becomes evident that God’s truth is not looking for popularity. In fact, the truth will never be popular, at least in this world, especially to fake Christians.
What’s funny is the things and attitudes this world offers are the very things humans naturally go after. Why is that? Answer: because without Jesus Christ being our boss (Lord), we are nothing but intelligent, conniving animals looking for what pleases our sinful nature. Of course, most of us attempt to do that in a dignified manner.
In conclusion, the only thing to consider is that worldly pleasures, as nice and necessary as they seem, cannot be compared with the pleasures, peace and joy God through Christ gives to His faithful followers. This last sentence has to be experienced in order to believe its validity and truthfulness. You see, God offers everyone the best He has which has lasting value, while this world give what seems to satisfy temporarily, but leaves people with a wanton desire for more. It's a vicious never ending cycle. The worldly ways are easy; the other comes with dedication to living as God requires, which is not so easy.
Even as we separate ourselves from the ways of this world, it is important to know that we still, out of necessity, will have to mingle with people of this world, otherwise we would have to leave this world. But, at the same time, we must not associate with any people who call themselves Christians but are sexually immoral, greedy, idolaters, slanderers, drunkards or swindlers. With such people do not even eat. Paraphrased from 1st Corinthians 5: 9-11. The apostle Paul extends this list of no, no’s in 1st Corinthians 6:9-10.
And then, one’s place of employment or the people one deals with in business may have nothing to do with God. That cannot be helped; again it is a necessity to associate with them. Nevertheless, it is imperative to let those we associate with know and see our true colors, without badgering them.

# 234: Who are God's Worse Enemies?
In the US, statistics say that we have approximately 280 million people who "profess" some sort of religion or Christianity, and about 20 million who are atheist or agnostics. Those figures seem to indicate that America is mostly a religious/Christian country.
Now, looking at it from God’s vantage point--if that is even possible--what would God say on the spiritual condition of our great country? First, I must say this: according to the New Testament (N T)--the book through which God and Christ speak--those who say they are Christians and at the same time, do not live according to what is taught therein, are religious hypocrites.
I am not sure how many readers are aware of how Christ feels and treats people who claim to be Christians but whose lives are centered on self-promotion. Well, though He loves them by desiring the best for them, He treats them with disdain. Please check Matthew chapter 23 to see what kind of language He uses to describe religious hypocrites.
And yet, throughout the complete NT, Christ has not one bad word to say against the Roman empire or its people, who, most likely, were all atheist. Why was that? First, they did not blaspheme our God, His Name or purpose, by their ungodly lives since they didn’t acknowledge Him as God or Lord (boss). Yet, Christ did not approve of their ungodly conduct. What He did was to ignore them, as if they were not His business, at least during the three years of His worldly ministry.
What does this tell us about how God regards the people in the US? The 20 million nonbelievers, although they don’t believe much if anything which is written in Scripture, they are condemned to spend eternity in a place of torment. Again, since they don’t believe that, it doesn’t bother them one bit. They say, "This life is it. Religion and God are only fairytales meant for those who can’t standup on their own two feet, and therefore need an invisible crutch to take them through this dog-eat-dog world."
Now, concerning the other 280 million, they mostly are the ones who have devastated and continue to devastate God. Some will ask, "How so?" The reason being, the vast majority who profess Christ as their Lord, do not obey His instructions as the way to eternal life. By the lives they live, they disgrace the Name of God and Christ. In other words, hypocrites shame Him. And even worse than that, because of their ungodly lives, atheists feel religion is a scam, and thus keeping them from becoming disciples of Christ. That is where the real atrocities of hypocrisy comes into play.
Therefore, hypocrisy is worse than atheism. Unknowingly, hypocrites are destroying the chances of millions of atheists and their children from becoming genuine Christians. You see, atheists are not, by their ungodly lives, keeping others from becoming Christians, to any great degree. Fake Christians are keeping atheists from joining forces with God. Therefore,
